Topicals' Olamide Olowe Is Launching a Clothing Brand
Designed in partnership with stylist Solidad Nwakibu.
Our favorite CEO, boss bae and beauty guru Olamide Olowe just soft-launched her first clothing line, and we’re already making space in our closets for the first drop. Debuting two looks at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the mastermind behind Topicals announced her newest creative venture in collaboration with New York-based stylist Solidad Nwakibu: Ayomikun.
Using her middle name as the identity of the Lagos-based brand, the name translates to “my joy is complete” in Yoruba, and that couldn’t be more true. Her two looks — samples of the debut collection — offered a sneak peek of what we can expect from the brand once it launches. The bright colors and stripes are crafted from a thick, hand-woven fabric known as aṣọ òkè.
Wearing the same style in two different colorways, the halter-neck top and matching midi skirt merge contemporary style with traditional Nigerian fabrics, giving the new generation a way to connect with their roots in a way that feels true to their style.
Always the visionary, Olowe already transformed our skin. Now she’s coming for our closets, too. The brand is still in its early stages, but keep an eye out for a future launch date.
In other news, Underdays’ new collection is good for your skin, too.
