Barbie x PUMA Unveil an Exclusive Doll Set for the Suede Sneaker 50th Anniversary
A must-have collectible for ’90s girls.
Earlier in November, PUMA unveiled a collaboration with Barbie in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Suede sneaker. Along with a stylish black and hot pink rework of the classic silhouette, the drop also included a covetable selection of sportswear apparel. Now, the two brands come together for the second part of the release, introducing cross-branded Barbie dolls that don pieces from the collaboration – cue uproarious applause from ’90s girls everywhere.
On what the collaboration represents for the two brands, Lisa McKnight – Senior Vice President and General Manager for Barbie – tells HYPEBAE:
“Throughout our almost 60-year history, Barbie has partnered with a variety brands to reflect of the moment fashion trends. Our partnership with PUMA captures streetwear through both Barbie and PUMA’s iconic style filter and the result is an aspirational collection we know will resonate with both kids and adults.”
The PUMA Barbie doll arrives with two different girls: one sports blonde hair with hot pink streaks flashing across her high ponytail, and the other wears her glossy brown hair in two braided pig tails with vibrant pink streaks running throughout as well. Each doll of course wears her very own pair of dual-branded Suede sneakers, as well as a sporty ’90s-inspired outfit featuring PUMA branded leggings, a co-branded Barbie x PUMA tank top with mesh sleeves, as well as an oversized track jacket to round off the look.
Presenting a truly detailed look, one can also spot the array of various accessories that include blue-tinted aviator sunglasses, large hoop earrings and a PUMA logo ring. Each doll arrives with a doll stand for display, a Certificate of Authenticity, as well as exclusive packaging. The special edition Suede 50 x Barbie sneaker with doll set retails for $150 USD and is available at select stockists worldwide, as well as at PUMA.com. Each doll may also be purchased on its own, priced at $50 USD each and can be found at Barbie.com.
