Watch the Making of Virgil Abloh’s Debut Louis Vuitton Show on Instagram's IGTV
“This is not an Off-White™ show.”
Ahead of his highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2019 Men’s show for Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh has taken to Instagram‘s new vertical video platform IGTV to share a behind-the-scenes look at the collection. The runway show, which is set to debut on Thursday (June 21) during Paris Fashion Week Men’s, marks the Off-White™ designer’s first-ever presentation for the storied French fashion house. Ever since Abloh was appointed as LV’s men’s artistic director back in March, the industry and the streetwear community have been longing to see how the Chicago creative will take the brand into a new era post-Kim Jones.
In the near 12-minute long video, which is now available for viewing on Louis Vuitton’s profile, we’re offered a glimpse of what’s to come at the forthcoming show. ”This is not an Off-White™ show,” Abloh says at one point, determined to differentiate his work at Louis Vuitton from that of his own brand. Between blurred mood boards and talent portfolios, we spy a bunch of new monogram handbag styles as well as graphic-printed apparel featuring Wizard of Oz-inspired designs and more. Vogue Australia fashion director Christine Centenera, who’s tapped as a a consultant and stylist for the presentation, is seen working alongside Abloh in the clip.
