Here Are the Best Looks from Y-3's SS19 Collection

The latest from Yohji Yamamoto x adidas.

As part of their ongoing partnership, Yohji Yamamoto and adidas introduce the latest Y-3 Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week Men’s – once again, both men and womenswear are showcased. Shown at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at the Palais du Louvre, the revered Japanese designer celebrates the human form and for this particular program, brings to life the concept of “air between the body.” Using incredibly lightweight materials, dynamic silhouettes inspired by parachuting and sailing are among some of the most prominent designs. As usual, Yamamoto creates an effortless flow with his garments that accentuates natural movement. For this season, he achieves this by incorporating various fabrics such as GORE-TEX®, light nylon, engineered patchwork mesh, tech cotton, Adizero and high stretch.

Playing with a wide array of various cuts such as dresses, jumpsuits and skirts, the latest pieces further explore the intersection in which sport and fashion come together. Along with his typical monochromatic palette of black and white, Yamamoto also utilizes shades of fuchsia, burgundy, red, teal, blue and emerald to emphasize a vibrant cut-and-sew aesthetic on a slew of flowing items. Footwear debuts are undoubtedly also one of the most head-turning aspects of the show. Among the new offerings are the Raito Racer, an entirely new silhouette that is constructed with a BOOST sole. The Kaiwa also returns with an expanded range of colorways, as well as two distinctly new iterations: the Kaiwa Knit and the Ren. Also re-introduced are the Kasabaru and the Y-3 Runner 4-D.
