Stella McCartney Just Launched a Sleek Sock Sneaker – and It's Sustainable
Meet the “Loop.”
Stella McCartney has long been known for her sustainability efforts, most recently collaborating with sportswear giant adidas Originals on a shoe made out of recycled materials. Now, the British designer is introducing a brand-new sneaker with her eponymous label: the sustainable Loop trainer.
The shoe sports the trendy sock design, completed with a dual-tone rubber sole and comes in both a high and low-top design. Arriving in a red as well as a black colorway, the shoe is eye-catching and perfect for fall. Not only is Stella McCartney releasing a new shoe, alongside the drop the designer has also opened an exhibition titled “The Loop Lab” at her new flagship store. The lab is set out to educate customers on the story behind the sustainable sneaker, as well as the innovation and technology that goes into its creation.
“The shoe took over 18 months to design, making sure only the tiniest bit of animal friendly, water based glue was used to hold one part of the shoe together because we found that traditional shoe glues are solvent-based and they have an adverse effect on the ecosystem and human health, plus they are not easily biodegradable,” stated the label, referring to the making of the sleek sneaker.
