Supreme Unveils New Collaboration With Late Artist Mike Kelley
Set your reminders for the release.
Supreme has a history of collaborating with artists; most recently, the influential skate brand tapped legendary female photographers Cindy Sherman and Nan Goldin for limited-edition collections of apparel and skate decks, emblazoned with their work. Now, the label has set its sights on late contemporary American artist Mike Kelley, who was perhaps best known for his work with found objects and performance.
Alongside his colorful plush installations, Kelley was involved in Detroit’s proto-punk music scene as a member of the band, Destroy All Monsters and was a frequent collaborator of Sonic Youth – he even produced the cover art for 1992 album, Dirty. Taking key imagery from some of Kelley’s most notable work, More Love Hours Than Can Ever Be Repaid and The Wages of Sin, Ahh…Youth!, and the Reconstructed History series, Supreme celebrates the artist’s legacy through a jacket, shirts, hoodies, sweaters, T-shirts and skate decks boasting his work.
Take a look at the Mike Kelley x Supreme collection in the gallery above; the items will release online and in the physical Supreme stores in NY, LA, London and Paris on September 6 and as always, Japan will see a later release date of September 8.
