Chanel's Holiday 2019 Makeup Collection Is an Ode to Baroque Opulence
Look forward to six new eyeshadows, lipsticks and more.
Chanel Beauty will release its Holiday 2019 collection, “Les Ornements de Chanel,” on November 1. Lucia Pica, Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer for the brand, found inspiration for the collection in Gabrielle Chanel’s penchant for ornamentation such as the lacquered coromandel screens and gold leaf that adorned the iconic designer’s Paris apartment.
The 13-piece collection embodies a modern take on Baroque excess, departing from the “less is more” approach that Chanel was founded on. Options for the eyes include six new eyeshadows — in gunmetal and bronze khakis, soft peach, chocolate brown, gold, plum brown — and one waterproof eyeliner in a matching gunmetal khaki.
New lipstick shades include Rouge “Délicieux” (soft rose), “Majestueux” (intense raspberry), “Splendide” (pink coral), “Magnifique” (bright orange), “Spectaculaire” (true red) and “Noble” (black cherry burgundy). A satiny-peach highlighter powder and two nail lacquers in gunmetal green and chestnut red round out the range. All packaging is unique and exclusive to the collection.
“Les Ornements de Chanel” ranges from $205 to $555 USD and will be available in Chanel stores starting November 1.
