Model Devon Lee Carlson Spills Her Skincare Secrets
The model and vlogger shows us the products she swears by for glowy skin.
If you’ve been subscribed to Devon Lee Carlson‘s YouTube channel, then you’re probably as obsessed with her infectiously fun personality and her effortlessly cool sense of style as we are. Recently crowned the most influential style influencer in a poll of NYC teens by the New York Magazine, the 25-year-old model and co-founder of phone case company Wildflower Cases can seem to make any outfit work. An expert in combining high and low aesthetic, the Instagram star is often seen in a perfect pair of ’90s-style jeans with a colorful designer top, or a girly slip dress paired with some Nikes and a Prada handbag.
When it comes to makeup and skincare, Carlson is all about keeping it natural and fresh. As much as she loves a bold eye look that she’d wear at a photoshoot, her everyday beauty regimen mainly consists of products that help protect and replenish the skin, giving it that sought-after dewy finish.
We sat down with Carlson at The Ambrose Hotel in beautiful Santa Monica where she talked us through her favorite beauty products and her secrets to achieving glowy skin. During our conversation, she also shared her experience of attending Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020. Read all about it below.
Devon Carlson’s Beauty Essentials
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water: So gentle and nice. I use it every morning and every night to take off makeup and clean my face.
Origins GinZing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream: I’ve shouted out this product too many times, but it just makes me feel so refreshed. It’s like a nice glass of freshly squeezed OJ.
Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen: My favorite product from Supergoop! This is what I put on after moisturizer. It leaves my skin with a nice glow and protects me from the sun.
Dr.Jart+ Dermask Micro Jet Clearing Solution: Essential before a photoshoot. I always do these the night before a shoot and it just leaves my skin looking tight and fresh and clean.
(MALIN+GOETZ) Sage Styling Cream: The secret to my slick back hairdos. It doesn’t make your hair look crunchy and is so luxurious.
Glossier Mango Balm Dotcom: Instantly heals dry chapped lips. I’m addicted and it’s always in my purse.
Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation: My favorite foundation I have ever used. I always go for light or medium coverage and a very glowy look, and this foundation does just that. I’ll apply with my fingers or with a beautyblender, and it is just the best.
When did you first started vlogging? And what do you enjoy the most about it?
Two years ago. It’s the best decision I have ever made. I enjoy capturing this exciting time in my life and being able to go back and rewatch everything for the memories.
Where do you tend to find beauty in your everyday life?
My friends, my family and my dog. These things make me the happiest.
What’s it like attending Paris Fashion Week this season?
This Paris Fashion Week I attended exclusively with Saint Laurent, and it was a dream. Their show was right next to the Eiffel Tower and it was just iconic. Paris is such a magical city.
Were you inspired by any particular beauty trends seen on the runway?
I loved the effortlessness of the Saint Laurent show. Their girl is just so cool and wears whatever she wants, which definitely inspires me.
After taking a long-haul flight, what’s your go-to routine to rejuvenate your skin?
Firstly, always a bath. Followed by covering my whole body in lotion, and then a sheet mask.
Favorite perfume to wear on a night out?
Gypsy Water by Byredo.
Best beauty hack you’ve learned on set from a makeup artist or hairstylist?
Massaging your face. It naturally contours and not to mention it feels amazing.
Do you ever practise self-care at home?
I love doing a face mask, hair mask, hand mask and foot mask all at the same time. My dog looks at me like I’m crazy, but I feel like a new woman after.
When you’re in LA, are there any beauty parlors that you visit regularly?
I always visit Le Jolie Medi Spa. Their Forma facials are the best thing ever.
