Bella Hadid Goes All-American in Alexander Wang's Collection 1 2020 Campaign

Paying homage to New York.

Inspired by his hometown New York, Alexander Wang looked at the city’s eclectic energy and style for inspiration to use for his Collection 1 2020 campaign. According to the designer, “New York City is a celebration of the old and new, luxury and ordinary, routine and excitement,” which is what makes the city special.

For the campaign, Alexander Wang tapped photographer Brianna Capozzi as well as model Bella Hadid, capturing a series of photographs referencing iconic American symbols and New York landmarks. In true Wang fashion, the campaign wasn’t just a series of images, the designer also competed a “takeover” of the city. Before the campaign was revealed, the image of Bella Hadid as the Statue of Liberty was purposefully leaked through AirDrop all over the city, popping up on the phones of New Yorker’s and tourists reading “Alexander Wang wants to share a photo with you.”

In addition to the AirDrop reveal, the designer also commissioned sidewalk artists in the city to sketch the iconic image, as well as billboards across NYC in locations like the Manhattan Bridge. Lastly, Wang also spread bar coasters with the image through dive bars around the city, and posters are continuing to cover walls all over.

The Collection 1 2020 range is now available at alexanderwang.com as well as in-store, and at select luxury retailers worldwide. Take a look at the campaign starring Bella Hadid in the gallery above.
