Livestream: Dior to Show "Political" FW19 Collection at Paris Fashion Week
Maria Grazia Chiuri continues to make a statement with her designs.
Dior is set to unveil its Fall/Winter 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week this Tuesday. While the theme of the runway show has yet to be revealed, the French luxury fashion house has released a teaser video prior to the catwalk.
In the short clip, model and Maria Grazia Chiuri‘s Dior muse Ruth Bell is asked about her everyday personal style. “Why do I wear what I wear?” says the runway-favorite. “I wear mainly men’s clothes. I think of myself as pretty simple. I think my clothes are simple too, but I like that. I don’t like too fussy.”
She shares in a later portion of the video, “I think my clothes can be political because I wear men’s clothes.”
Since joining Dior as its Artistic Director in 2016, Chiuri has been using fashion as a means to make powerful statements. From the “We Should All Be Feminists” T-shirt in her FW17 collection, to the protests-inspired FW18 show, the Italian designer is weaving politics with fashion, one floaty dress at a time.
Tune in to watch Dior’s FW19 runway show, which will begin at 2:30 p.m. CET/8:30 a.m. EST on February 26.
