Fendi Announces Its Next Couture Show Will Honor Karl Lagerfeld
Scheduled to debut in Rome.
Back in February, the fashion community took a tremendous hit after the loss of world-renowned designer Karl Lagerfeld. At both Fendi and Chanel‘s Fall/Winter 2019 presentations, the fashion houses paid tribute to Lagerfeld. Now, according to WWD, Fendi’s next couture show in Rome will honor the former creative director’s 54-year tutelage at the Italian fashion house.
Chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH, Bernard Arnault spoke candidly of Lagerfeld at LVMH’s annual general assembly meeting early Thursday morning. He shared he was “the soul of the house since many years” which he followed up with an announcement that the upcoming couture show will “reprise all his creations during his time at Fendi.” Slated to take place on July 4, the tribute does not have an official location as of yet.
A spokesperson for Fendi later shared with WWD that the couture collection, which will be designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and the creative team, will be on display in Rome after the show. At the moment, Fendi has not officially announced a successor to Lagerfeld’s position.
Stay tuned as more news emerges on the forthcoming presentation.
