The Internet Is Going Insane Over Taylor Swift & Jennifer Hudson as Life-Sized Felines in New 'Cats' Trailer
Also starring James Corden, Rebel Wilson, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen, described as “demented” and a “nightmare.”
It’s time to start making a list of movies to watch during the Christmas holidays. As teased earlier by Taylor Swift this week, Universal Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for its film remake of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s iconic Broadway musical, Cats.
The film stars some big names, including Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella, James Corden as Bustopher Jones, Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger along with Idris Elba, Judi Dench, Ian McKellen and Steven McRae. On top of the cast, the movie will be produced by a team of executive producers including Steven Spielberg, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Angela Morrison, and is directed by Tom Hooper of Les Misérables.
Having won six Tony awards, the play is Weber’s stage adaptation of T.S. Eliot’s 1939 book, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. Following a group of Jellicle cats, the musical introduces all of the felines with different, fascinating backgrounds. The story is set on a night when the Jellicles gather to decide who will be chosen to travel to the Heaviside Layer for reincarnation.
While many are excited about the film, fans have also been sharing some funny reactions to the trailer. The movie is described as “demented” and as a “nightmare” because of its extensive visual effects making the actors look like “miniature yet huge cats with human celebrity faces and sexy breasts performing a demented dream ballet for kids.”
Take a look at some of the best reactions below, and watch the full trailer above to get excited for the release. Cats arrives in theaters on December 20.

My thoughts on the #CatsMovie trailer:
Oof this cast is so haphazard.
I forgot Jason Derulo was in this too…
I really wish I saw the Broadway show because I can’t make heads or tails of what is even going on in this trailer.
