UPDATE: 'Zoey 101' Cast Reunites Amidst Reports of Potential Reboot

UPDATE (July 30, 2019): A week after news broke that Jamie Lynn Spears was in talks to reboot Zoey 101 with Nickelodeon, a group of the original cast met up for dinner in Los Angeles. In images posted on social media, show creator Dan Schneider reportedly had dinner with Victoria Justice, Chris Massey, Matthew Underwood and Sean Flynn.
In the caption to an image Schneider shared:
“Some Zoey 101 buzz got me talking with my good friend Sean Flynn (‘Chase’)… and within about 72 hours, this happened! I’m not sure how I feel about my new glasses, but that was one of the most fun nights ever. A wonderful cast of kids then, and even better all grown up! Much love/respect for all of you!”
Though Jamie Lynn Spears wasn’t present, Schneider shared that she was busy shooting her new show in Atlanta. The cast also attempted to call her while they were at dinner, but she was reportedly in bed.

With Gossip Girl and Recess reboots in the works, it makes sense that another beloved 2000s show has entered the conversation: Zoey 101. According to TMZ, the hit series which was responsible for the breakout success of Britney Spears‘ younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, could be hitting screens soon.
A Nickelodeon source shared with TMZ that Jamie Lynn “has been talking with execs about the show but it’s not a done deal.” Additionally, the former lead actress would reprise her role as Zoey, but with significant changes in the dynamics of the show.
TMZ reports that the premise of the show would follow Zoey’s life in California ten years later (she’ll be 28). Notably, she’ll have children thought it’s unclear if she has a partner or if she still is attached to her past love interest, Chase. The bit about Zoey having children isn’t too far-fetched since Spears is a mother of two herself.
Earlier this month, Deadline announced that Jamie Lynn has signed on for the upcoming Netflix series Sweet Magnolias. Stay tuned here as more news emerges on the reboot of Zoey 101.
