Louis Vuitton Teams Up With Alex Israel for A Vibrant Textile Collection

Crafted using a cutting-edge quilting technique.

After working with Alex Israel on the Artycapucines bag and bottle designs for its Les Cologne Perfumes Collection, Louis Vuitton has tapped the Los Angeles-based contemporary artist once again, this time for a Fall/Winter 2019 textile collection showing his vibrant pop aesthetic. Comprised of eight designs, the range features scarves, shawls, blankets and a bandeau.

The scarves, created with Israel’s Wave paintings, are crafted using a cutting-edge, innovative quilting technique. One side of each Wave scarf is padded in order to recreate the puffy texture of the paintings, and the other side features the House’s iconic Monogram pattern. They arrive in four color combinations and in three different sizes – classic, giant and jumbo, which can be used as a blanket. The Sky Backdrop Monogram shawls, made with a silk and cashmere blend on Israel’s Sky Backdrop painting series, come in two colorways. The Desperado bandeau is a brightly colored, double-sided piece depicting a desert scene with cacti and cars inspired by the artist’s 2015 bronze sculpture Desperado, along with the Sky Backdrop overprinted with the LV Monogram.

This collaboration with Israel follows up on the House’s history of working with artists on its textiles range, from Sol LeWitt and Takashi Murakami to Stephen Sprouse and Yayoi Kusama. The Alex Israel x Louis Vuitton textile collection is now available at the brand’s selected stores.
