Yayoi Kusama Brings Her Famed Infinity Mirror Rooms and Pumpkins to New York's Botanical Garden
The artist will be taking over 250-acres of land.
Yayoi Kusama‘s Narcissus Garden made its debut in New York around this time last year as a part of MoMA PS1‘s Rockaway! arts festival showcasing an updated iteration of the exhibit made up of 1,500 stainless steel balls. Next summer, the famed Japanese artist will be taking over the Big Apple’s botanical garden with her coveted infinity mirror rooms and a site-exclusive gigantic polka-dot pumpkin sculpture.
The upcoming exhibit will highlight Kusama’s lifelong connection with nature, so expect more polka-dot inspired sculptures featuring colossal flora, artwork derived from plant life and botanical sketches. In addition, brand-new pieces will be created by the artist herself including her first-ever participatory greenhouse installation that will be transformed over the course of the showcase.
Stay tuned for more details as the mega exhibition launches on May 2, 2020, and will run until November 1, 2020.
