Get an Up-Close Look at Fendi's SS20 Collection, Hot off the Runway
Peep the accessories, outerwear and more, straight from Milan Fashion Week.
Earlier this week, Silvia Venturini Fendi presented her SS20 collection for the luxury fashion house during Milan Fashion Week. Now, we get a closer look at some of the key pieces from the line, hot off the runway. Since the passing of Karl Lagerfeld this year, this marks the first collection in which Silvia has worked on the womenswear category fully on her own without Lagerfeld’s presence as the “Captain.” Taking it back to summers in the ’70s, the range boasts a rich palette of era-appropriate tans, browns and oranges as well as vibrant pops of color – notably green, blue, pink and yellow.
Accessories are a key category for any luxury brand and Fendi‘s latest offering serves up an array of bags for any occasion and style. From floral scarf-inspired printed mini bags to oversized, delicately woven leather bags, there truly is something for everyone. Of course, the classic monogram styles haven’t been forgotten, you’ll find smooth leather bags with the iconic double “F” emblem throughout as well as soft suede bags in brown and pink with the same insignia embossed upon them.
When it comes to eyewear and jewellery, as was on trend five decades ago, the message is the bigger, the better. Oversized sunglasses seem to replace the ultra-micro matrix sunnies that have been reigning supreme the past few seasons and logomania makes a comeback with golden Fendi-lettered golden glasses chains. Rings are flashy and large and earrings arrive as big “F” shapes in finishes like tortoiseshell.
The apparel itself, while also undoubtedly inspired by the ’70s, has been refined in a much more contemporary manner and so feels more modern than retro.
