Fendi's SS20 Collection Is Reminiscent of the Psychedelic '70s
Take a look at our favorite looks from the runway show.
Fendi‘s Spring/Summer 2020 runway presentation at Milan Fashion Week was a momentous occasion. Following Karl Lagerfeld‘s 54 years of involvement at Fendi, Silvia Venturini Fendi steps into the spotlight as she has inherited the fashion house’s womenswear category.
The vibrant SS20 collection expands on Silvia’s definition of summer, according to Vogue. Speaking of her time at the Italian brand, she noted that she did have a hand in the womenswear, but Lagerfeld served as the “captain.” The new lineup is made up of psychedelic prints, woven bags as well as bold, floral patterns. Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber and more models were seen on the sleek black runway in head-turning looks reminiscent of the groovy ’70s.
Rather than being divided into two halves, the runway show which featured 48 looks was wholly cohesive. This consistency was seen in the rich color palette made up of oranges, tans, browns and hits of primary colors throughout. The beauty looks were slightly disheveled — think space-inspired buns, natural faces and smudged, smoky eyeshadows.

As a whole, Fendi’s captivating show fused Silvia’s design cues with Lagerfeld’s inclinations. With the usage of loud prints balanced with sheer fabrics, the fashion house has stepped into a new era. The designer’s penchant for accessories also rang loudly with the appearance of mini bags and unique footwear.
