Warner Bros. is set to premiere Roald Dahl’s The Witches based on the author’s popular 1983 graphic novel of the same name. Originally scheduled for a theatrical release, the film will now be debuting exclusively on HBO Max in the U.S. later this month, just in time for Halloween.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man behind Forrest Gump, The Polar Express and the Back to the Future trilogy, the upcoming movie follows the story of “a young boy who stumbles upon a secret coven of witches and, with the help of his loving grandmother, tries to stop their evil plan to turn the world’s children into mice,” according to a press release. The cast includes a lineup of award-winning actors and actresses, including Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Kristin Chenoweth and Chris Rock, along with emerging star Jahzir Kadeen Bruno as the protagonist.
