Paolina Russo and Marko Baković Reworked the adidas Superstar Into Mules and Boots

As seen at London Fashion Week.

Emerging designer Paolina Russo recently caught Instagram‘s attention at London Fashion Week, where she showed a Fall/Winter 2020 collection starring reworked adidas shoes designed in collaboration with fellow creative Marko Baković. With the support of adidas London, Russo and Bakovic transformed the brand’s classic Superstar sneaker into knee-high boots and heeled mules.

Russo is no stranger to working with reclaimed, deconstructed sneakers. The Central Saint Martins graduate student constructed corsets and dresses out of colorful leather sneakers for her Bachelor’s collection and in 2019, showed an adidas sneaker bodice, among other reworked items, at Paris Fashion Week.

When Russo found Baković’s “Frankenstein” boots on Instagram, she knew it was a match made in heaven — the duo teamed up on two collaborative styles, the Superstar Boot and Superstar Mule. The two heeled shoes feature adidas’ signature Three Stripes at the forefront complemented by silver zipper detailing. Superstar branding remains embossed in gold on the lateral of both styles and adidas’ original insole is kept intact.

Take a closer look at the adidas x Studio Marko Baković for Paolina Russo footwear collection above.
