Inspired by French cinema and musings on performance art.
Givenchy‘s Fall/Winter 2020 show at Paris Fashion Week featured a plethora of voluminous silhouettes. Clare Waight Keller‘s designs were inspired by Helena Almeida and Ketty La Rocca’s artworks, archival imagery of Hubert de Givenchy’s mid-century collections, as well as French actress Anouk Aimée.
Key looks arrived in a Mod color palette featuring black, white, cherry red, tobacco, rusty brown and cobalt blue hues. Raw cut and collaged fabrics were incorporated into the collection’s shirred blouses and knife-pleated shifts, while coat styles were cut in fine double-faced Melton. Accessories include the GV3 bag returning in glossy spazzolato leather or tri-color suede, the Antigona Soft bag featuring its signature colors, wrapped in archive print silk foulards.
