Viral Text Message Bug Is Causing iPhones to Crash

When certain characters are sent via text message.

Apple users have reported a new bug affecting iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches running on operating system iOS 13.4.1, the latest version. Similar to an issue that arose back in 2011, the new bug is triggered when a certain string of Sindhi characters is sent via Messages and notifications from social media apps. Known as a “text bomb,” the glitch locks the operating system and causes devices to crash. Users are then forced to hard reset to restart the device.

As reported by Gizmodo, Apple is working on a fix for the bug. Users running the iOS 13.4.5 beta are not affected by the text bomb. In the meantime, disabling notifications on Apple devices works as a temporary fix.

Check out Apple’s latest text bug in action below.
