Kanye West's Net Worth Officially Surpasses $1 Billion USD
‘Forbes’ secured the rapper’s financial records.
Following Kanye West‘s exclusion from Forbes‘ annual ”World’s Billionaires” list, the publication secured the rapper’s financial records and has officially declared him a billionaire.
Back in 2019, West publicly criticized Forbes for failing to qualify him as a billionaire despite his appearance on the cover of the magazine’s August 2019 issue. According to Senior Editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg, West cited $890 million USD in earnings last year, but did not provide “sufficient documentation” of his standing. The rapper went on to accuse Forbes of excluding him due to his race.
Now, West and his team have provided Forbes with copies of his financial records. Taking into consideration West’s YEEZY deal with adidas (which, despite YEEZY’s valuation of $1.5 billion USD, entitles West to royalties of about 11 to 15 percent), real estate holdings, music publishing rights and stocks, the magazine estimates his net worth to be $1.3 billion USD. Despite his now-official qualification as billionaire, West remains unhappy with the number and reportedly texted the magazine that his earnings are actually “$3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count.”
