Prabal Gurung Designs Merchandise for All Americans, a COVID-19 Relief Initiative
Helping marginalized communities affected by the pandemic.
Prabal Gurung is the latest fashion industry name to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. The Nepalese-American designer has created merchandise for All Americans, a cross-cultural campaign to help curb racially motivated violence fueled by the pandemic, provide medical supplies to marginalized communities and sustain small businesses.
Gurung has designed a series of T-shirts and hats printed with the initiative’s logo, an upward-facing arrow that, according to the campaign, “reflects our nation’s collective rise when — and only when — we are embraced, treated and supported as equals.” As many Asian-Americans face bigoted attacks motivated by President Donald Trump‘s use of the term “Chinese virus,” and higher rates of infection persist among African-Americans, communities such as theirs are in need of support at this time.
