ORIGINAL STORY (June 25, 2020): Zara Rahim, former communications director for Vogue, is helming an online sample sale to help fight racism and COVID-19. 100 percent of proceeds from the online pop-up, which will see over 40 brands participate, go to Black Lives Matter organization Movement For Black Lives and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, helping employees such as house keepers and nannies stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Rahim, whose resume also includes a stint as head of strategic communications for The Wing (now under fire for mistreating Black staff), took to Instagram with an explanation of how the charitable sample sale — dubbed Good Buys — came to be. In collaboration with Director of E-Commerce for Christian Dior Couture, Zohar Benjelloun, Rahim enlisted a range of designers to donate pieces, all of which will be sold at a discount. So far, confirmed brands include Pyer Moss, Telfar, Sandy Liang, Prada, Gucci and Miu Miu.
The Good Buys sample sale launches mid-July. Head to the initiative’s official website and Instagram to learn more.
