The Studio Ghibli Theme Park Will be Opening in 2022
As originally planned, despite delays in construction due to the ongoing pandemic.
While it is highly unlikely that we’ll be able to travel anytime soon, the Studio Ghibli theme park has confirmed that it will be opening in 2022 as originally scheduled. There have been major delays in construction due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the Japanese studio plans to complete the project on time.
Situated in the Aichi Prefecture in Japan, the park will be divided into five main zones, with three that are based on locations from Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Whisper of the Heart currently under construction. The other two areas have not begun construction yet but are inspired by the Mononoke Village from Pricess Mononoke, and Witch Valley from Howl’s Moving Castle and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Not much information on the park has been revealed, but it is reportedly scheduled to open in Fall 2022, as shared by Sora News 24.
