Amazon Is Launching a Luxury Fashion Platform
Reportedly going live next month during the international fashion weeks.
Amazon is gearing up to launch a luxury fashion platform next month, stocking a selection of ready-to-wear and accessory labels as part of its roster. According to WWD, the brands will operate their own concessions on the site, and the feature is expected to launch alongside international fashion weeks in September.
The company will give brands complete control over concessions as well as looks and appearance, prices and quantities. The brands will then be paired with Amazon’s various distribution centres and storage infrastructures, in order to make the fashion easily accessible. It is yet under wraps what brands will be taking part in the launch, but it is expected to include a dozen labels across ready-to-wear and accessories.
The luxury platform had previously reported to be launching this spring, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it had to be pushed back. Amazon has also received an immense amount of criticism throughout the pandemic, and many previous customers have chosen to boycott the platform. Founder Jeff Bezos has also been the topic of conversation as his net worth recently hit $200 billion USD, with many questioning why the founder and CEO hasn’t used his wealth to support ongoing problems like COVID-19 research and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Stay tuned as more information has yet to be revealed surrounding the release.
