UPDATE (November 20, 2020): After months of delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 is finally set to premiere next month on HBO Max. Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO of WarnerMedia., said in a statement:
“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans. This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”
According to Variety, the film will release in cinemas in other parts of the world one week earlier than the U.S. premiere date since HBO Max is not available internationally. Wonder Woman 1984 starring Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig and Chris Pine will make its debut on December 25 via the streaming platform at no additional cost to its current subscribers.

UPDATE (September 14, 2020): Warner Bros. has once again delayed the premiere of Wonder Woman 1984. Last month, the production company released the film’s full trailer and announced that it would hit theaters on October 2.
However, due to cinemas being closed in major markets like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Warner Bros. has decided to change the movie‘s premiere date to December 25. According to Variety, “box office analysts suggest that it’s unwise to release big-budgeted movies until those areas can welcome patrons.” Director Patty Jenkins commented on the news:
“First and foremost let me say how much Gal and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for WW84 couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie. Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!”
“Patty is an exceptional filmmaker and with Wonder Woman 1984 she has delivered an incredibly dynamic film that moviegoers of all ages around the world will absolutely love,” said Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Chairman. “We’re very proud of the film and look forward to bringing it to audiences for the holidays.”
