Naomi Osaka Makes a Comeback and Wins Her Second U.S. Open Title
The Japanese-Haitian athlete is now the youngest player with three Grand Slam titles.
Last weekend, Naomi Osaka claimed her third tennis Grand Slam title and took home her second U.S. Open trophy after defeating fellow professional tennis player Victoria Azarenka at the 2020 U.S. Open women’s championship. According to Vogue, Osaka celebrated her win by laying on the court and focused on a meditative gaze.
Azarenka initially took the lead with a score of 6-1 in the first set, but Osaka immediately redeemed herself during the second and third rounds and took home the trophy. “Firstly I want to congratulate Vika. I actually don’t want to play you in more finals because I didn’t really enjoy that, that was a really tough match for me,” Osaka commented after the match.
In addition to Angelique Kerber, Kim Clijsters, Venus Williams and Serena Williams, the 22-year-old Japanese-Haitian athlete is now one of the few players with three Grand Slam titles.
