Tomo Koizumi Debuts Bridal Capsule Collection Inspired by the Japanese Kimono

A dreamy collection created in partnership with retailer TREAT.

This year has been a big one for Tomo Koizumi – the Japanese designer was announced as a finalist for the LVMH Prize, and recently revealed an upcoming collaboration with Emilio Pucci. Now, the rising name has teamed up with Japanese retailer TREAT for a bridal capsule collection.

Comprised of eight looks, the range arrives as part of the multi-brand store’s TREAT MAISON atelier line. Infusing the wedding silhouettes with his very own techniques, Koizumi completes contemporary looks with dramatic details. Each design is complete with voluminous layered ruffles handcrafted by TREAT’s atelier team. The classic bridal gowns, arriving in a rich ivory shade, boast vibrant hues taking inspiration from the traditional Kimono, ranging from red and blue, to green and purple.

Through the latest collaboration, the emerging designer attempts to push the boundaries of wedding fashion: “I was interested in looking at the history of wedding dressing in Japan and I wanted to challenge myself in a new field. Collaborating with TREAT on a bridal line was a natural fit for this exploration,” he comments in a press release. “In my experience, truly good things can be appreciated regardless of nationality, gender, age, industry, religion or any other boundary, and I wanted to bring that to the wedding industry in Japan and worldwide.”

In addition to the intricate details and dramatic silhouettes, the partnership also explores sustainability. Each gown is created with great value and high quality to make the re-wearing of dresses a luxe experience. TREAT’s Chief Happiness Officer Miho Ishikawa tells HYPEBAE:

“At TREAT, we have always focused on working with the highest quality dresses and designers while cultivating our expertise with alteration and personalization. In considering sustainability and value, we hope to elevate high design in weddings in Japan, to push the boundaries of fashion. With the value that re-wearing affords, we hope more brides may experience luxury design, like Tomo Koizumi. We’re excited to empower women to find more opportunities to experience fashion in Japan, to embrace it for their weddings and to share more of that which is uniquely Japan with the world.”
