UPDATE (March 24, 2021): Earlier this year, adidas unveiled its classic Stan Smith silhouette featuring graphics inspired by Mother Nature. Now, the sportswear label is set to release the sustainable sneaker in three different iterations.
All pairs’ uppers are constructed out of adidas’ Primegreen, a fabric comprised of a series of high-performance recycled materials, while the white outsoles are crafted from recycled rubber. The first style is a women’s exclusive boasting illustrations influenced by planet Earth. Elsewhere, the second pair is also embossed with the same graphics as the first shoe, but comes with gold eyelets and green heel tabs. Finally, the third design is reminiscent of the original Stan Smith but has been updated with doodles throughout.
adidas’ new Stan Smith pack ranges from $85 to $110 USD and is now available online.
ORIGINAL STORY (January 21, 2021): Back in December 2020, adidas announced that it would produce its iconic Stan Smith out of 100 percent eco-friendly materials. Following its Kermit the Frog iteration, the sportswear brand has reworked the silhouette featuring doodles inspired by Mother Nature.
The latest style’s leather upper is constructed out of Primegreen – a sustainable material that does not contain virgin plastic. Reminiscent of Sean Wotherspoon‘s 2020 SUPEREARTH Superstar collaboration, playful graphics can be found throughout, such as flowers, raindrops, a globe and a hand-drawn Trefoil logo. Rounding out the pair is the green heel tab and the Primegreen-printed insole. Take a closer look above.
Priced at ¥12,000 JPY (approximately $116 USD), you can now cop adidas’ Stan Smith Primegreen at stockists like atmos.
