Barneys Reopens at Saks Fifth Avenue
“Barneys at Saks” breathes new life into the shuttered department store.
Barneys New York, the famed luxury department store that closed after filing for bankruptcy in 2019, has received a new lease on life thanks to Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks’ New York City flagship unveiled “Barneys at Saks,” a 54,000-square-foot retail space that will carry on the Barneys legacy by championing emerging designers.
“When conceptualizing Barneys at Saks, we focused on three core pillars to bring the brand to life in a way that is relevant for today’s luxury consumer, while celebrating the spirit of Barneys New York—discovery, the unexpected, and fun,” Tracy Margolies, chief merchant at Saks Fifth Avenue, told Harper’s Bazaar. To start, Barneys at Saks is shining the spotlight on a selection of rising brands including Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God, Victor Glemaud, Stella Jean and A-COLD-WALL*.
Shoppers can visit Barneys at Saks between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST on the fifth floor of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. On January 25, a standalone Barneys at Saks will open in Greenwich, Connecticut.
