The duo celebrate female friendship in the new visual.

UPDATE (January 8, 2021): Saweetie and Doja Cat make a formidable pair in the recently unveiled music video for “Best Friend,” the duo’s new single. The visual opens with the two rappers lounging in the sun when a “concerned” suitor comes over, complaining that other men are ogling their bodies.

“Great, another ‘fake woke’ misogynist,” Doja Cat thinks, telepathically communicating with Saweetie, who responds, “Does he really think he’s an ally to the feminist cause?” The pair proceed to celebrate their friendship, taking joyrides in a bedazzled car and rebuffing men, while wearing matching outfits. In a Thelma and Louise-esque ending, the two dive off a cliff, naked, into the sea.

ORIGINAL STORY (January 7, 2021): Building anticipation for her debut album Pretty B*tch Music, Saweetie has announced a brand new single, “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat, and accompanying music video. Both releases, set to drop later today, come just weeks after Saweetie took to Twitter voicing disappointment that the single was prematurely leaked.

The new song, just as catchy as Saweetie’s past hits, is an ode to female friendship perfect for blasting during (virtual) girls’ nights out. The rapper delivers a celebratory hook,”That’s my best friend / She a real bad bitch / Drive her own car, she don’t need no Lyft,” while Doja Cat spits an equally sharp bridge: “Whole world wanna be us / That’s my main bitch / She my day one.” The release of “Best Friend” follows Saweetie’s single and music video “Back to the Streets,” the rapper’s first look at what’s to come on her forthcoming album.

Saweetie’s “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat releases at 6 p.m. EST on January 7.
