André Leon Talley Makes His UGG Debut in SS21 Campaign

UGG has tapped Vogue‘s former editor André Leon Talley to be the face of its latest Spring/Summer 2021 campaign. As part of the Southern California-based brand’s ongoing “FEEL ____.” series, Talley has also given insight into his life journey and what fuels his creativity.
“UGG is comfort food for my feet. It is smart. It is cozy. It is power-packed with style,” Talley shares in a press release. “I thought at first UGG had a connotation of being tacky. People said, ‘Oh, I would never be caught wearing an UGG,’” he mentioned in an interview with the company.
Set on the front porch of his home in White Plains, New York, the campaign was directed by the fashion journalist himself. Talley is seen dressed in the label’s signature styles like the Neumel chukka and Tasman slipper. In addition to the shoot, Talley candidly shared his upbringing in the south and his career in the fashion and publishing industry. “I felt that I made a difference to some people. I know that if Anna Wintour did not name me creative director in 1988, there would’ve been no way that Edward Enninful would have become the first Black editor-in-chief for British Vogue,” he said.
