YouTuber Creates Real-Life 'Squid Game' With 456 Players

YouTuber Mr. Beast has taken the extra step to recreate a real-life version of Netflix‘s hit show Squid Game. Just like the Korean series, the game challenges 456 players to compete for a cash prize.

In the 25-minute-long video, contestants are seen wearing green tracksuits while organizers are in red suits and black masks, just like the original show. Those who fail each stage are eliminated by having a small device pop from their chests as a way to reenact gory scenes from Squid Game. The final six contestants are even treated to a fancy steak dinner before they play a game of Musical Chairs. In this particular stage, those eliminated leave the scene in a black coffin.

The content creator shared that it took him roughly $3.5 million USD to build the sets for each of the games, including Red Light, Green Light, Tug of War and the Glass Bridge. “Recreating Squid Games is costing more than I thought it would but I’m in too deep to stop now lol,” he captioned a timelapse of the set-building process on Twitter. As of writing, the YouTube clip has garnered over 48 million views.
