Apple Is Introducing Gender-Inclusive Emojis for iOS 14.5

Along with updated designs for the syringe and headphone emojis.

In addition to enabling Face ID even with masks on, Apple‘s iOS 14.5 beta users have noticed 217 new emojis introduced by the tech giant. The upcoming release features more gender-inclusive symbols, as well as updated designs to the original characters.

Providing more options, Apple is allowing users to use emojis that show both women and men with beards. In addition, a more inclusive set of couples have been introduced, with diverse skin tone choices becoming available. As for smileys, three new designs – “Exhaling Face,” “Face With Spiral Eyes” and “Face in Clouds” – have been added to the list. Fans of the heart emojis will soon be able to use one that is one fire, and another wrapped in bandages. Rounding out the emoji update are syringes without blood to reflect the ongoing pandemic and vaccinations, as well as the headphone symbol that now looks more like the AirPods Max.

You can head over to Emojipedia for a closer look at the upcoming release. iOS 14.5 is slated to roll out sometime this spring.
