Burberry's FW21 Menswear Collection Is an Escape to the Great Outdoors

Riccardo Tisci pays homage to the relationship between humans and nature.

Stuck indoors amidst the pandemic, Riccardo Tisci looked to nature to inspire his latest Burberry collection, appropriately titled “Escapes.” For the Fall/Winter 2021 menswear season, Tisci drew from the British craft and outdoor movements of the early 20th century, when “[people] formed communities with a deep respect for nature and the outdoors and looked forward to a future full of possibility,” the designer explained in a statement.

Expressing the relationship between humans and nature, Tisci crafted knit hats to resemble deer heads, while sneakers and boots were fashioned after cloven deer hooves. An eco-friendly alternative to genuine hides, photographic prints of animal fur appear on shirting, and fuzzy coats and vests are constructed from imitation mink and shearling. Classic trench coats, striped wool duffle coats and varsity jackets — a trend we’ve spotted throughout season — present ample outerwear options.

Take a look at Burberry’s FW21 menswear collection above.
