A pleasant surprise to longtime fans, Syd has just dropped a new track called “Missing Out,” marking her first solo single since the release of her 2017 debut album, Fin.

The Los Angeles-born artist, who recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of her band The Internet, delivers an anti-Valentine’s Day song about a failing relationship. Punctuated by moody synths, the track offers a sensual vibe synonymous with Syd’s music. “As far as I can see/ You and me/ Could never be/ Cause we didn’t spend the proper time/ Trying to work it out,” she sings.

In addition to new music, a press release reveals how the musician has been keeping herself busy and productive during lockdown — she’s working on a film, partnering on an apparel project in Japan, and even “collecting and rehabbing old trucks.”

“Missing Out” is now on streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify. Stay tuned for more from Syd in 2021.
