“Friend U Can Keep.”
UPDATE (February 11, 2021): Hot on the heels of her sizzling new single “F.U.C.K.” (Friend You Can Keep), Victoria Monét reveals a rodeo-style music video in which she plays a Western superheroine. ORIGINAL STORY (February 1, 2021): After almost six months since the release of her critically acclaimed project JAGUAR, Victoria Monét has returned with a new single titled “F.U.C.K.”
Staying true to the unique R&B sound, sexually empowering lyrics and sultry energy of her 2020 project, Monét’s first release of the year is another soulful, dreamy bedroom anthem that fans of songs like “Touch Me” and “Moment” will certainly enjoy. A commentary on modern-day romance, one that is often free of the ties of traditional commitment, the track offers an updated interpretation of “F.U.C.K.”
Monét explained the inspiration for the song title, an acronym for “Friend U Can Keep,” in a press release: “I wanted to give that non-binding friendship intimacy an official name…the way we see it, if you’re never in a relationship, you technically can never break up. It’s forever fun, it’s playful, it happens. So…F.U.C.K. it!”
“F.U.C.K.” is now out on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
