A--Company's FW21 Editorial Captures the Significance of Manhattan's Sidewalks
The label’s reworked silhouettes from its past collections take the streets of NYC.
Following up on its “Collection V: Blue Jeans” back in September 2020, New York City-based label A–Company has returned with a line of Fall/Winter 2021 essentials. In addition, the brand has teamed up with Annie Powers to capture the designs on the sidewalks of Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
“During this year of isolation, solitude and sterility, we wanted to find spaces that are alive, layered and messy. Sidewalks have become our meeting place: the area to walk with friends, a space to leave our homes, and a place where we can still discover,” A–Company’s founder and designer Sara Lopez said in a press release. “While creating this collection I envisioned the wearer feeling what Lou Sullivan says on the presentation of self, ‘I wanna look like what I am but don’t know what someone like me looks like. I mean, when people look at me I want them to think—there’s one of those people that reasons, that is a philosopher, that has their own interpretation of happiness. That’s what I am,’” she added.
Keeping its sustainability efforts in mind, the brand has reworked some of its signature silhouettes from past collections, reimagining them in new colorways and fabrics. Garments arrive in a variety of shades like lavender, dark brown and forest green, which are introduced over a strong neutral palette of black, ivory and sand. Materials used in the line include a combination of heavy coating and quilted down, utilitarian twill, blue acid wash denim and hand treated denim, as well as delicate silks, lace and sheer viscose knits.
Standouts like the Cut Away Bowling Shirt, Peak Lapel Long Trench Coat, Their Suit Jacket and Forgotten Flaps Denim Jacket will be perfect additions to your wardrobe this coming fall. Amplify your look with a bag like the Mini Which Direction Accordion Tote or Drawstring Bottom Crossbody.
