Balenciaga's New Handbag Is Made With Rusted Hardware and Faded Leather

Balenciaga has put an unexpected twist on its Neo Classic handbag, a popular style that takes after the house’s iconic City bag. Dubbed the Neo Classic Used, the brand’s latest accessory mimics the natural aging process of leather and metal with rusted hardware and distressed detailing.
Made of black calfskin leather, the bag’s handle and seaming is faded, resulting in a worn appearance that points to the accessory’s eventual intended use. The shape of the purse is more relaxed than the typical Neo Classic, contributing to its well-loved look. Rusted metal accents including studs at the front zippered pocket and buckles at the lower corners complete the style. “The update is meant to be worn forever, becoming organically distressed over time while its leather interior stays strong and functional,” Balenciaga said of the Neo Classic Used in a press release.
