Marvel Reveals Posters for the Anticipated ‘Black Widow’ Movie
Featuring new images of Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz.
Marvel has just released the official character posters for its highly anticipated blockbuster film Black Widow, with Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as the deadly assassin. Originally set to release in May 2020, the film was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Ahead of its new July premiere date, we’re getting a closer look at the characters.
As the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s much-anticipated Phase Four, Black Widow is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Director Cate Shortland tells the story of Natasha Romanoff’s journey in becoming Black Widow and follows her story when a sinister conspiracy emerges, and she is forced to confront her past.
Alongside Johansson, the movie features Midsommar’s Florence Pugh making her debut as Yelena, Stranger Things‘ David Harbour as Alexei, also known as “The Red Guardian,” as well as The Favourite’s Rachel Weisz as Melina. The posters also give us a first look at the mysterious “Taskmaster,” whose identity is yet to be revealed.
Black Widow will release in cinemas globally and online on Disney+ on July 9. Watch the trailer below.
