Lil Nas X Talks 'SNL' Wardrobe Malfunction on 'The Tonight Show'

No, Lil Nas X‘s Saturday Night Live wardrobe malfunction was not a publicity stunt. The rapper took to the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to detail his performance on the SNL season finale, more specifically, the moment his pants ripped on stage.
“I’m pretty much going down the pole, doing my little sexy drop down and boom, I feel air,” he recalled, referencing his pole dance routine. “I’m like, ‘Okay, there’s definitely a breeze going on.’”
Lil Nas X also clarified that the wardrobe malfunction was not planned. Fallon aired a clip of the rapper’s rehearsal, revealing the would-be ending to his performance: an upside-down pole spin, a move the star was forced to scrap due to his ripped pants. “I want everyone who thought it was a publicity stunt to see that. It was not. I would never rip my pants in public on purpose,” he stated.
Giving fans an idea of what to expect from his upcoming album, Montero, Lil Nas X went on to describe the forthcoming project. “My entire life has led up to this moment…It’s 100% me,” he said. “I’m exploring my sexuality, myself. It’s like a coming-of-age story…It’s everything.”
