Billie Eilish Accused of Queerbaiting in "Lost Cause" Music Video
The musician is confusing fans with the caption “I love girls” in an Instagram post.
Billie Eilish, who is gearing up for a Jordan Brand collaboration, is being accused of queerbaiting in the music video for her latest single “Lost Cause.”
“I love girls,” the award-winning singer captioned in an Instagram post revealing behind-the-scene moments from the shoot. As seen in the music video, Eilish and a group of girls play games and roll around in bed at a slumber party.
“Bro is she saying what I think she’s saying?” a follower commented, while others asked: “Are you coming out?” “Uhm this better be you coming out cause I’ve been simping my whole life.” Some LGBTQ+ fans have pointed out that Eilish could be queerbaiting – a “strategy used to bait and tease queer individuals” into watching or consuming something.
“Is Billie Eilish bi? Or did I just watch four minutes of queerbaiting done by a straight person?” a Twitter user questioned, further adding: “Let’s not forget that she wrote a whole ass song about a guy rejecting her and how she wished he was gay so that he had a ‘reason’ to not be attracted to her.”
Eilish has yet to officially respond to the accusations, but has since shared a selfie on Instagram with the caption, “I’m tireeeddddddd.”
