Netflix's New Dating Show Has Singles Dress Up as Animals To Find True Love

‘Sexy Beasts’ is the streaming platform’s most bizarre reality series yet.

Love makes us do crazy things, but would you dress up as a dolphin — prosthetic blow hole and all — to find the perfect partner? According to Netflix, sporting elaborate animal costumes in pursuit of your twin flame isn’t such a far-fetched idea. The streaming platform’s trailer for Sexy Beasts, an upcoming dating show, reveals the lengths some singles will go to meet their match (and appear on TV).

One of Netflix’s most bizarre releases to date, Sexy Beasts seems to be a furry take on last year’s hit series Love Is Blind. Singles, made up in jaw-dropping animal prosthetics, go on several first dates with similarly costumed prospects. The goal? “To put true blind date chemistry to the test,” according to the trailer’s YouTube description. At the end of each episode, our furry friends (pandas, bulls and groundhogs are among the creatures that make an appearance) must choose one partner to continue dating.

It’s a totally ridiculous premise for a show, but we’re intrigued. Choice moments in the preview — such as a humanoid dolphin confessing, “This is gonna be really tough for me” as she struggles to select her mate — are entirely hilarious. And honestly, the prosthetics are pretty impressive.

Sexy Beasts premieres on Netflix on July 21.
