Prada Takes Its SS22 Menswear Collection to the Beach
Dreaming of post-pandemic fashion.
The fashion world is itching to return back to normal now that more people are starting to get vaccinated. Looking forward to post-pandemic dressing, Prada has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection comprised of statement garments and must-have accessories.
“A sense of the utopian, the ideal, of hope, positivity. To expose yourself to nature, to go to the beach — it’s freedom. It is utopian. That is really a primary need — an intellectual need, too,” co-creative director Miuccia Prada shared with Vogue. Shot in Milan at the Fondazione Prada’s Deposito, the fashion house’s film kicks off with the models negotiating a “meandering red tunnel,” as per the show’s notes. Models are seen in romper suits arriving in a corporate-worker charcoal cotton iteration and sailor-boy white design, while some looks are accessorized with bucket hats with almond-shaped brims.
One standout silhouette is the skort, which was previously seen in the label’s Spring/Summer 2017 womenswear range. Elsewhere, hoodies are dressed in summer-ready floral patterns available in a lime green and purple colorway. The visual then transitions to the models walking on the beach. “The primary feeling is one of joy. It’s almost like that memory of a child, the joy of a child going to the beach. The simplest and most honest of pleasures,” Raf Simons explained. “In all its simpleness, it’s also something very meaningful and timeless.”
