3 Hair Color Trends That Will Radically Change Your Look This Summer
Let these be the inspo for your post-lockdown hair transformation.
Head-turning hair colors are back and brighter than ever this summer season. As we reemerge back into the world after more than a year of isolation, a radical hair change may be just what you need for a style refresh.
Georgia May Jagger, model and Co-Owner of the cult-favorite London salon BLEACH, agrees. “I think as we ease out of lockdown, people are more excited to try something new and experiment with colors and cuts,” she tells HYPEBAE. While beginner-friendly hair dyes in pastel pinks and soft peaches were widely popular last year, vibrant hair colors are about to dominate Summer 2021. “Now we’re seeing brighter tones like reds and oranges, and vivid shades like blue and green,” Georgia says. She recommends using BLEACH’s Super Cool Colors, a line of semi-permanent hair color creams, for easy maintenance: “The formulas have a conditioning base, so as the color starts to fade, you can mix it with your own toner. I blend some of my conditioner or the Reincarnation Mask to the color to dilute it, then wear it like a mask to hydrate and boost the color.” Another tip? “Less frequent washes also helps keep the color vibrant, so dry shampoo is essential.”

“Reds and coppers have become really popular in the past couple of months,” Georgia notes. “Alex [Brownsell] (the co-founder of BLEACH) just dyed my mom’s hair copper, and she is getting tons and tons of compliments on it.” To achieve the look, she recommends using the brand’s semi-permanent hair color cream in Tangerine Dream on bleached blonde hair to give it a vibrant, true orange hue.
Warm, Golden Blonde

Warm blondes are another hair color trend that will likely take over the summer season. “People are gravitating towards golden shades rather than ashy or white blonde,” Georgia comments. “I use Just Like Honey on my hair to keep a soft buttery tone when I’m not using an experimental color.”
Ocean-Like Blue

For those who prefer cool tones, Georgia predicts that sapphire blue will be everywhere this summer. “I dyed my hair half-blue, half-purple last year, but Blue Weekend is on my list to try this year. It’s a brighter true blue that reminds me of the sea or summer skies,” she tells us. With a typically slower fade-out time compared to other colors, blue is especially ideal for a low-maintenance summer look.
