Sydney Sweeney‘s recent red carpet look at the LACMA Art and Film Gala earlier this month was not a favorite amongst the ballet community.

The Euphoria actor attended the event wearing a pastel pink number by Giambattista Valli featuring floral detailing. The look was complete with tights and pointe shoes — a nod to the ever-so-popular balletcore aesthetic. For glam, she kept things simple with sleeked back hair and pink shades on her eyes and lips.

While fans complimented Sweeney’s haute couture look, the ballet community pointed out that there were several things wrong in the photoshoot she did wearing the outfit. “When will the modeling industry stop putting pointe shoes on people who can’t wear them safely,” a comment read, while another user wrote, “I love her but I’m cringing so much as a ballerina.” Others noted that the depiction of ballet is offensive to professional dancers. “Please why the pointe shoes can we stop acting like dance and ballet is an easy sport we can use for cute pics it’s hard as sh-t and dancers train for decades,” “This is honestly disrespectful to all the dancers who’ve dedicated their lives to the art.”

More members of the dance community shared their thoughts via Instagram account @modelsdoingballet noting that Sweeney’s posture is incorrect being positioned over the “box” of the shoe, which can be dangerous, and her hand placed in a “hamburger” pose.
