"Tinder Swindler" Shimon Hayut Banned From Hinge and More Dating Apps
The con man scammed women out of $10 million USD.
The subject of The Tinder Swindler has been banned from more dating apps after deceiving and scamming women out of their money. Following the premiere of the Netflix true crime documentary, Simon Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, is no longer able to prey on new victims as Tinder has recently banned him from using the app. Now, a rep from the owners of OkCupid, Hinge, PlentyofFish, OurTime, Meetic, Pairs and Match reveals that Hayut is permanently banned from using the group’s dating services.
The Netflix film has brought Hayut’s predatory ways to light, as the scammer, along with a group of skilled con artists, took more than $10 million USD from the women he met on Tinder, using different aliases to keep his schemes going. The con man convinced his dates that he was the heir to a diamond tycoon, using private jet trips and other lavish outings to gain their trust. While Hayut was sentenced to 15 months in prison, he has only served five and is currently a free man in Israel.
Banding together, the women who were conned by Hayut have started a GoFundMe account in an effort to recover their stolen funds.
