Burberry Stages FW22 Show on Dining Tables
Marking the house’s first physical presentation in two years.
Shortly after Fashion Month came to an end, Riccardo Tisci brought the fashion crowd back to London to present his Fall/Winter 2022 collection for Burberry.
Marking the house’s first in-person show in two years, the runway was staged on dining tables at Central Hall Westminster. Friends of the brand including Jacob Elordi, Naomi Campbell, Adam Driver and Kate Moss were invited as guests of the intimate event, as models stepped onto the tables to show off the season’s new looks.
Featuring both womenswear and menswear, the collection was a celebration of the city of London. Tisci shared in the show’s notes: “‘It was important for me to explore what it means to belong, how our roots influence our identity and how the power of community and togetherness is what truly brings meaning to the world.” He added: “Therefore, I wanted this collection to convey that intensity of feeling and to celebrate not only coming together, but the city in which we come together today; the city in which Burberry grew and established a family.” He further elaborated that London, to him, is “a place of dreams, a capital building on its heritage and unified by its diverse community and an attitude of moving beyond boundaries — of pursuing limitless potential.”
Modeled by Gigi and Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Mariacarla Boscono and many more, the womenswear collection featured a wide range of variations of Burberry’s iconic trench. The house’s signature check patterns were seen on coats and tights, as well as pleated skirts. The trench coat was reimagined into ball gowns, while vibrant polka dot prints added contrast. Elsewhere, standout looks included a padded coat-dress and fuzzy gowns in black and yellow.
