Martine Rose's FW22 Line Reflects the Boundaries Dissolving Between Work and Home
This is the “new normal.”
Martine Rose‘s Fall/Winter 2022 collection derives its inspiration from the realities of empty offices and taking work calls from your living room. A reflection of our “new normal,” styles arrive in the forms of quilted, grandma-like scarves paired with wrinkled puffer jackets.
The range is emblematic of the Martine woman, who is proudly “unprofessional,” as per the brand’s press release. Relaxed dressing-gowns of boiled wool complement formal coats, whereas jacquard pieces don the faded floral designs of bedcovers. Oversized silhouettes featuring jersey graphics with broken motifs are crafted from ancient, novelty T shirts, while other silhouettes combine leather fronts and technical nylon backs.
Elsewhere, denim styles are produced using a Japanese technique where pleated cotton denim is crinkled to construct a shrunken and elongated design. Puffer jackets, shirts and tracksuits also boast the crumpled look. Accessories like the granny-clip fastening purse and skate chain round off the range.
